Book Review: THE HOUSEMAID
If you enjoy psychological thrillers, this one’s a great pick. Regular readers of the genre might be able to guess the twist early on, but if you don’t, you’re in for quite a shock.

Recently, some of you might have noticed (or maybe ignored) that I’ve started posting my daily workout stories on Instagram—updates about medals or certificates for completing 5K walks and runs. I know what some of you are thinking: “Plenty of people walk or run more than 5K every day without posting about it. Why is she showing off?” Why am I making such a big deal about my 5Ks? 5K may be small for some. But for me, every step forward is a big deal. And if my journey gets even one more person moving, I think I’ve already won.
A quick long weekend getaway from Hyderabad - Badami - was a pleasant surprise. Since it is closer to Hampi, most of the tourists club Hampi and Badami together. We, however, could not cover it during our trip to Hampi. The weather played its role perfectly, giving a stunning background to our photographs. Beautifully preserved caves, ruins, and an ancient temple on the lake. Visit Badami (and Hampi) just when it starts to rain or when it just stops. Avoid the peak monsoon and summer seasons. Don't forget to pack your own lunch for the road!
Why the hell do you, men, carry such huge egos? What has been your contribution to being born as a boy? Or for that matter, your parents’? It just happened that a combination of chromosomes made you a boy and me a girl. That’s it. Kis baat ka ghamand leke ghoom rahe ho tum?
This concept of a Living Will looks like an option to convert one’s wish into reality when one would not be in a condition to speak up for himself/herself. In simpler terms, a "living will", also known as an Advance Medical Directive, is a legal document where individuals can specify their wishes regarding medical treatment in case they become incapacitated. This allows them to refuse life-sustaining treatment or specify their preferences for end-of-life care, ensuring their autonomy even when unable to communicate. Living wills uphold an individual's right to make decisions about their own body and healthcare, even at the end of life, promoting dignity in death.
As a long-time fan of the Jurassic Park/World series, I was excited to watch Jurassic World Rebirth on the big screen. While I enjoyed the dinosaur thrills and a few edge-of-the-seat moments, the storyline felt repetitive and predictable, once again featuring a greedy corporation, an expedition team, a forbidden island, and a survival race after things go wrong.
A remake of the 2018 Spanish film Champions, the story follows Gulshan (Aamir Khan), an assistant basketball coach who, after a drunken hit-and-run incident, is sentenced to coach a team of neurodivergent players. Though reluctant at first, he learns to appreciate their unique strengths, with help from the facility manager, Kartar Paaji (Gurpal Singh). The film challenges the notion of “normal” and redefines what it means to win.
For someone who has grown up watching military-based thriller movies, reading The Zora Trigger offers a different experience. It has a slow start, but picks up pace around the middle. Readers will genuinely feel the pain of Param, a realistic portrayal of a man with prosthetic legs.
Abhishek Bachchan delivers yet another deeply impactful performance. For those who have written him off, perhaps you're measuring an actor’s success solely by box office numbers. But if you value range, conviction, and memorable portrayals, Abhishek Bachchan is a fantastic actor. The film is based on a real-life figure - Arjun Sen (a fact I only learned after the movie ended) - a man who underwent nearly 20 life-altering, often life-threatening, surgeries. You’ll understand the full weight of this line once you watch the film. Why did he endure so much pain, one surgery after another? This movie tries to answer that, quietly and powerfully.
